Tracey Tawhiao (Ngāi te Rangi, Whakatōhea, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) is a prolific multimedia contemporary artist, whose expression spans poetry, moving image and sculpture, as well as painting.

Tracey’s artwork focusses strongly on the potency of symbol, conveying the breadth of her experience and her position as a Māori woman. Tracey is well-known for her unique and dynamic approach to art, and her astute poetry. She has exhibited her art extensively across Aotearoa and internationally and her poetry is published in several anthologies. Tracey is currently one of the inaugural fellows of the Tuwhare Creative Residency and is working on her first novel.
